Give Thanks

Hello!  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Kara here from Create By Kara

Today I would love to show you a simple card created with a digital stamp called Scarecrow with a fence and can be found here.   When using a digital stamp, do not be intimidated!  I use a Brother Laser Printer for my digi stamps.  They are fun to use as you can make them any size you need.

1.  I printed the Scarecrow with a Fence digi and colored with Spectrum Noir markers
2.  Next I used the Brother Scan N Cut to trim around the edge.  Don't think you need this device to use a digi.  You could simply use a die from the Fancy Frames selection and cut a frame or base.  You do not need to cut to be able to use these.
3.  I then took the Fancy Frame die set and cut a rectangle on white card stock.
4.  Using the Outdoor Landscape die set, I took the hill die and cut to use as a mask.  I then laid the mask down and with the Clarity Stencil Brushes I brushed on the blue for the sky.  After the sky I used the other half of the mask and proceeded to brush on the grass color.  I set this aside while I compiled the other parts of my card.
5.  I then took brown card stock and cut 6.25 x 4 and embossed with an embossing folder.  I took brown ink and edged around the sides.  Let this dry completely.. I did not.. so learn from my lesson, LOL!
6.  I then took orange card stock and  trimmed 5.75 x 2.5.  Edged this in orange ink.
7.  Using the Give Thanks from Thankful Squeaks stamp set and my MISTI.. I stamped the bottom right corner.
8.  I then layered the brown and orange as I wanted and added brown ribbon for a bit of interest.  I attach my ribbon using tape on the back of my card stock.  I then added the white hill piece and glued down my digi scarecrow.
9.  Finally, I added spectrum noir sparkle glitter pen on the pumpkins and sunflower.  The photo may not catch the sparkle.  Also adding a few sprinkles from Dooglebug to the bottom left corner to add the final touches.

You're Amazing! Flower Pot

Hello!  Thanks so much for stopping by

Today I wanted to create and show you a neat teacher gift idea.  I found the general idea from Pinterest, but put my own spin by personalizing the bucket.

I first cut out the digital images from Craftin Desert Divas called Flower Power.  I printed and then cut with the Brother Scan N Cut.

I then wanted a more finished edge look so I took a marker and just ran it around the outside of each flower.

To prepare the bucket I simply took some floral foam and hot glued that to secure it.  I then personalized the bucket with Mrs. Langdon.  I have no children, but she ordered a few wreaths from me and she has been a teacher for over 25 years.. so I thought it would be nice to gift her this.

I then shredded some green cardstock for my grass.

I then took the digi flower and placed a hole in the center. I didn't the hole too large so I then took my penblade and made little slits so that it could fit over the pencil eraser.

I then placed each pencil random places in the bucket.    I made a tag that I will place on the handle, but for photo purposes I placed it in the grass.  I will write my message on the back of the tag.

The final project is super cute!  I just know she will love it!

Red, White and Blue

Hello!  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Welcome to week 1 of the Red, White and Blue linky challenge at Craftin Desert Divas.

Red, White and Blue!!  Home of the Brave is what those colors represent to me.  I started off by printing the July Bear digital image from the Craftin Desert Divas store.  I then colored with Spectrum Noir markers and cut with my Brother Scan N Cut.

With the party die set, I cut two balloons in patriotic paper I purchased at Walmart.    I used the Flag Banner die set to stop and emboss Home of the Brave (from Celebrate Freedom).  These banner dies have become a staple in my crafting.  To create some layers in the card I used the brand new Crazy Stitched Frames, Picture Frame and Stitched Circles.

Be sure to link up your Red, White and blue card here at Craftin Desert Divas .

Last drop...

Hello!  Thanks so much for stopping by

Be sure to stop by Craftin Desert Divas for coffee digi stamps!

Today I would like to share a coffee card I made using a digital image from Craftin Desert Divas.  I wanted to stretch my thoughts and use what I had already.. I'm a good one for always needing the new stuff, but I was looking through my stash of digital stamps and low and behold had a bear from winter.  Cocoa Bear.. so I printed him out and colored away.    I knew I'd have to cover up the snowflake so I took out the Got Coffee set (physical stamps) and a heart punch.  I stamped the heart onto the heart punch in white and then I distressed the heart with Grape distress ink.. I then added some foam dots and over the snowflake it went.

The Fancy Frames die set is a staple in my collection.. I use these dies in many projects.   I also used the Picture Frame die for another layer in the card.  To add my bear I used Stitched Circles and then foam tape to raise the bear a bit.

To finish it off the sentiment (from Got Coffee) I heat embossed in white on the Flag Banner Die set.  I'm in love with this banner set.. A must have in your collection.  I never ever throw packaging.. bows.. etc away.  The purple bow is from the packaging of stamps at Craftin Desert Divas!

It is super simple to use digital stamps in your projects.  I have a Brother Laser MFC-9340 printer and print on either Brutus Monroe alabaster paper or Spectrum Noir paper.  I use Sprectrum Noir makers to color.  If you have any issues.. Heat set the ink before coloring.   I use the Brother Scan N Cut to 'fussy cut' all of my images.   You can do a close cut.. or I chose to offset my image a smidge..

Fun in the Garden

Hello!  Today I want to share the Linky Party at Craftin Desert Divas.  The theme is one of my FAVORITES... Shake it up!!  Yes, that means crank up those shaker crafty juices and get to crafting!  Shaker cards are so fun to make and not to mention you can just shake, shake, shake!!

Every other Monday will mark the beginning of a new semi-weekly Linky Party over at the CDD blog. We hope you will share your projects with us! And don't forget about the prizes! Every Linky Party will have a winner and a Top 3! The more times you link up...the more chances you have to win!!

Our Sponsors for this Linky Party are:

I absolutely LOVE this linky challenge!!  For digi images, I use Word to position my images and print. I start off by printing my flower pot bear.   I use a Brother Laser Printer and Brutus Monroe cardstock to print my digi images.    Using my Spectrum Noir pens I color in the image until I love it!  My final touches for the bear is a bit of Glossy Accents to her eyes.

I then went to Too Cute By Jessica and purchased the files that match this digi stamp.  There was a 95% off sale and I love a good sale!

From those files I took the flowers an SVG file and imported it to my Cricut.  I cut out a few different sizes.. I wanted these as accents for my card.  I wanted a sweet sentiment for my card so I also programed my Cricut to write instead of cut "Fun in the Garden".

I wanted my sequins to appear to be coming out of the flower pot so I chose the Fancy Stitched Label Dies for my shaker portion.  I cut a foam layer, transparency film, and cardstock layer.  I adhered them all together and let that sit over night with a little weight (usually I use a container of my ink cubes).  I am sure you don't need to let it set that long and I don't always.

My background is simply Zest from Brutus Monroe.  I love to make my own color backgrounds and Brutus Monroe inks can do just about anything.

I then took my Fancy Frames die and cut two different shapes from that.  I wanted a fun bright color for my card and I believe I achieved that!  I filled my shaker in with Pizazz sequins (which currently I am obsessing over).

I hope you enjoy this shaker card as much as I LOVED making it!

Happy Birthday

Hello!  Thanks so much for stopping by

Today I want to share a card made with the Digi image from Craftin Desert Divas Birthday Elephant.  I can not believe I was once afraid to use a digital image.  My friend Tina just did a wonderful tutorial that can be found here.   I think knowing where to start is a step in the right direction to using digital stamps.

I have a Brother MFC-9340 laser printer.  I know many print with inkjet, but I've had great success with my laser.

After I had her printed out I then colored with spectrum noir markers.  I then cut with my Brother Scan N Cut.  There are a few areas I haven't figured out how to cut, such as the space between the legs and little bow opening.  I simply take my Pen Blade and cut (P.S. these blades are SUPER sharp.. I found that out when doing this card).

I created my background layers with the Fancy Frames die set.  If I were to say you need ONE  die set from Craftin Desert Divas.. I'd definitely vote the Fancy Frames.  I use this in just about ever card in some way.

The Sending you Tons of Fun was part of this digital stamp.  I took the smallest frame from the Stitched Label die set and cut.  Using distress ink to make it have a bit of color.

I wanted my elephant to be standing on something or appear to be.  I took out my watercolors and just put a little puddle underneath her.  I didn't want her to appear as if she was standing in mid air.

I topped the balloons and string off with glossy accents and the hat with Wink of Stella.

Adding some sequins topped off the card!

Happy Birthday Scrapbook Layout

Hello!  Thanks so much for stopping by

Today I'd like to share a scrapbook page made for a weekend birthday hop at Craftin Desert Divas.  If you have been wanting to try some digital stamps..

I took out my 12x12 paper (which felt weird because I have been really just making cards).  I wanted the 'cow' look to my background.  I used distress spray in black.  I suppose I could have just sprayed the bottle, but I chose to take the spray out and flick with the end of the sprayer bottle.  Just a warning that the it could and probably will go just about everywhere.   Set that aside to let dry.

I then took out Pocket pieces hello dies and used the banner to cut out 5 for "Emily".  I wanted her name to be front and center since the day was all about her! The letter cut outs are from Sizzix.  I temporarily lay out my scrapbook pages until I know for sure it's the final layout.  One tip that I saw from a card maker was to take a photo of how you want it to be laid out and that gives you a picture to refer back to!  I thought that was clever and genius.

Behind the photo I wanted a different look and not just a rectangle.  So I took out my Stitched scallop dies and cut each side of the rectangle for a cute looking edge.

The cow image is a digital image only available this weekend Birthday Cow, so grab that cutie while you can.  I colored her with spectrum noir markers and it was way too busy to just place her on to the cow print paper... So I took out the Fancy frame dies to make the black background.

It was Emily's 2nd birthday so I wanted to document that someway.  I used the small tag from the pocket pieces hello dies and 2nd from bring on the cake placing that under the strings on the balloon to make it look attached.

I then used Happy Birthday from Bring on the cake stamped at the top in Black Onyx Versafine.  I love foam mounting tape so the banners and birthday cow are all raised with dimension.

I hope this has inspired you to get your craft on.
Happy Crafting

Gingerbread shaker card using a digital image

Hello!  Thank you so much for stopping by!  Today I wanted to share a fear I conquered, LOL.  That is using a digital image!!!  Sounds craziness, but I just wasn't sure how to.. if I'm being quite honest.  I can't be alone in that.

To top it off, I was almost boycotting digital images because I like the physical aspect of stamping to paper.  I have been scrapbooking for years and refuse to go digital.. To me scrapbooking is the art of placing paper to paper.  Maybe I am alone in this, but I guess it's how I feel.

The first thing I noticed about the digital image.. you can make it how large or small you'd like.. so the possibilities are endless in that aspect.

I used the digi image from Craftin Desert Divas.  Not only are her digi's super cute, but her stamps are full of adorableness.

I also used the Brutus Monroe cardstock for my base.  It's super important to have a good cardstock and his cardstock is        AHHHH-MAZING!

I then used the Lawn Fawn Lets Bokeh set.  I am obsessing with the bokeh look right now.

I wanted a simple stamp and I really didn't want it to be Christmas.. So I used the word Joy from the Stamps of Life set.  I stamped it with black versa fine and used clear embossing.  I love clear embossing.  It adds that shine and crispness.. A picture may not show, but I love it.

Adding in my shaker elements added the final touches to this shaker card.   I'm on a mission to find a way to not have my elements stick to my transparency film.. It always seems to stick in the wrong places.. aka her nose in this one..

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope this has sparked some creativity!  Happy Crafting
